Questions About Mother Of the Bride Dresses

Could the mother of the bride dress the similar color as to the bridesmaid dress? Or is it better to use a complementary color rather than a different shade of the same color?  –Try to get something coordinating or complimentary rather than a similar color in another shade.

If the bridesmaids are wearing floor length dresses, must the mother of the bride wear the same length dress or can the mother of the bride wear something like a cocktail dress, sort of short dress? –Mother of the bride dresses should be in the same formality as the bridesmaids. And tea length might be a better “in between” choice.

For example, if you are having an evening summer wedding and your bridesmaids are wearing a coral/pink color, what color would be appropriate for the mother of the bride dresses?  –Champagne mother of the bride dresses seems to be a safe bet when in doubt. Then there are shades of taupe and some shades of green. You need to consider the mom’s and their skin tones too. In addition to Champagne, you can try soft butter yellow mother of the bride dresses and very light turquoise as well as very light sage green mother of the bride dresses. These colors would work wonderfully around coral/pink.

What colors would be appropriate for a June wedding?  –”Summery” colors are usually much lighter and more delicate, such as light pink mother of the bride dresses and light purple mother of the bride dresses. Take her along when dress-shopping for yourself (if possible) and seek advice of an experienced sales person at the dress shop.

As a fall wedding, if bridesmaid’s dresses are a deep wine color, would it be appropriate for the mother of the bride to wear a pink colored dress that is the same formality as the bridesmaids?  –Pink is a bit too “Summery” a color for the fall. Would you consider going for deep Bronze or Pewter tones, for instance brown mother of the bride dresses? They will look totally fantastic in photos against deep wine color.

Is it appropriate to wear black on wedding?  –It is totally appropriate to wear black. You might want to add a bit of “sparkle” to your outfit, like beading etc., but color-wise, it is totally OK!
